Each game is made in Maine and contains: 1 Hand-crafted Eastern White Pine Lobster Pot target with authentic lobster netting and rugged aluminum hoop. 1 Mesh netted bag with industrial weight draw string. 6 Hand-sewn lobster bags filled with Maine mustard seed (2 red, 2 orange-gold, 1 "rare" royal blue and 1 "rare" turquoise. Object of the Game To toss -- or lob -- the most Lobster Bags into the Lobster Pot Target being the player or team of players to score the most points. Be sure to catch the Rare Blue Lobster to score additional points. How to Play - Two Players / Teams Each player or team of players starts with 3 bags -- 2 of the same color and 1 rare colored lobster. Determine and measure the distance away from the target that is appropriate to the players age and ability (see REcommended Target Spacing below) and mark the toss line, making sure the lowest edge of the tilted target faces the players. Decide who tosses first then take turns tossing 1 lobster at a time standing with your feet behind the toss line. Collect lobsters and determine the points scored for that round keeping track of the running points until 1 layer scores enough to win. (See Scoring). If a Lobster bag is knocked into the hoop hole by another bag at any time during play it counts as being in the Pot. If 2 Lobster Pot Targets are used, Players walk back and forth from the targets and use the front edges of the targets as the toss line. Scoring Regular Lobster Bags (Red and Orange Gold) = 1 point Rare Lobster Bags (Blue and Turquoise) = 2 points The winner can be determined in one of two ways. First, players or teams count the number of bags that they toss into the Lobster Pot. Example: Player/Team A tosses 2 regular lobster bags and Player/Team B tosses 1 rare lobster bag into the Lobster Pot. Player/Team A scores 2 points; Player/Team B Scores 2 points. Play continues until reaching an agreed upon pre-determined score of 7, 15 or 21. Alternately, players or teams can count the difference in the number of bags they tossed into the target versus their opponent. Example: Player/Team A tosses all 3 regular lobster bags into the Pot scoring a total of 4 points and Player/Team B tosses 1 regular lobster bag and 1 rare lobster bag into the target totaling 3 points. Player/Team A scores 1 point - the difference in the number of points scored by both teams. While keeping track of the running points until 1 player/team scores enough to win. For quicker games score eligible bags in the target hole as 2 points, Rare Lobster bags as 3 points and bags at rest on the Lobster Pot Target netting top as 1 point. Maine has a long tradition of catching lobsters using a trap or "pot" once predominantly made of wood. The bait stuffed pots are lowered to the ocean floor and retrieved a day or two later with the hopes of being full of keepas and every once in a while the elusive rare blue lobster. The "Lob the Lobstah" bag toss game celebrates this tradition of lobstering. Instead of the lobsters crawling into the trap, players of this game have to prove their aim by tossing the lobster bags into the target hole. Some may go in, others may bounce back, and some may even hang out on the netting. Wherever the lobsters end up this game is certain to entertain both the young whipper snapper and the ol' geezer. As much fun as this game is to play, please use CAUTION opening and closing the tilt legs to AVOID pinching your fingers. AVOID stepping on the netting or getting any part of your body caught in the metal hoop.
